Each day is a fresh adventure for our campers who range in age from 3 - 11 years. Children start out in small, same age groups with a group leader who accompanies and guides the children throughout their day.
Mornings, the children attend two scheduled activities with their groups. The pace is relaxed and flexible so there is extra time at a station if needed. In between stations, children have a healthy snack, cool off and enjoy free play.
Midday, the entire camp shares an outdoor picnic lunch (from home) in the shade. Riddles and jokes told by campers are featured on the menu as well!
Afternoons are less structured and children choose their two activities. At the end of the day everyone enjoys , homemade ice pops while waiting for pick up. Below is a general description of some of our many activity choices:
The camp's pool is perfect for cooling off. Our WSI-certified lifeguard offers swim lessons in addition to daily free swim time.
Our shady sports field is cool and breezy, and our athletic CIT's set up a soccer clinic each season. This year, due to the popularity of our sports program, we've added a basketball and T-Ball clinic.
Blue Rock Camp's sewing program will have your child sewing dolls, pillows, clothes, accessories (and maybe even reupholstering your favorite armchair?) Kids are inspired by the versatility of a sewing machine and with expert instruction, their abilities blossom.
For several years we've used the Ukulele and African hand drums to inspire and educate our campers. All of the campers perform in our end of season Music & Drama performance which draws its theme from our Nature and Science Station. Our CIT's and older campers are active partners in the creative process - the music and lyrics are original and every camper participates - to a packed house!
